I have a dog, George, who is the black and fuzzy beast of my heart. I love animals and they, 99% of the time, love me back. Well, I have a good description blowout here that is not meant to try and impress ladies out there, except maybe just a little bit. I have really wanted to say this for a couple of weeks: a lot of you women on here are selling your face, and I'm not buying. I want a woman who is a great artist. I will probably know how long I could spend around you by your art, due to my incredible judgments of art as an artist and such. Since we're both of us great artists, we will be able to play off of each other in a measured way, and not be bogged down in stupid people shit, mostly due to our artistic (or otherwise) perspective. I mean, we all will share a lot of that, I figure, but it will be the contrasts (a-ha!) that provide for true creative growth. Basically we should play off each other really well, and consistently encourage brain growth in the other person. I mean, c'mon, really...shouldn't be all that complicated, but, of course, with most people there's all that terrible bullshit. In practice, I only have a little bit of that, and so should you. Instinct should be examined, indulged in (with some amount of detachment), but not embraced. If we ever own a house together it will not have much in it beyond the essentials except a bunch of eBook readers and maybe some really high-end electronics? I am willing to compromise on some of that, baby. As far as religion, ehhh, it will probably be Buddhist-esque for me. You can be a full-on Buddhist, as long as you reject the, uh, ingrained-type trappings of traditional religion that may be some kind of bubbling up of "mindless" worshiping. In other words, if you start praying to a bunch of pictures of bald Tibetan guys, you ass is going out on the curb, with only your eBook reader and the clothes on your ass to keep you company.

I'm pretty much just looking for friends. I'm 6'1", lean (about 160 lbs) and deceptively strong. I have a marvelous sense of humor and evidently and damn sexy voice. I'll start with the generic stuff. I'm 27, 5 foot 10, and starting this 'dating thing' after what seems like a very long time

I have a very dry sense of humor, but I can usually get people laughing. I have a little girl, she's the funniest, smartest, cutest, most incredible person I've ever known, but there's no possibility my opinion has been biased in any way.

I am rewriting this now, realizing that the summary I wrote just a year ago no longer describes me accurately. Funny, how much we can change when change happens a little at a time.

The word I want to use to summarize myself is 'seeking'. Seeking knowledge, connection, mastery, peace, excitement, contentment, groundedness. I am passionate about many things - psychology, music, writing, justice and equality, food, anusara yoga, mindfulness, conversations, mountains. I strive to learn a little bit more, do a little bit better, focus a little more clearly, and enjoy a little more fully.

At the same time, though, I don't take things so seriously. Smiling is my favorite activity, and do it often - coffee, sunshine, naps, silliness, good jokes, bad jokes, good days, bad days, all result in a smile. Too much seriousness seems to me to be bad for the heart.

My passion is old movies. Thus, anything that has to do with them and what goes with it. I was born into a family of poor immigrants, who came to America with dreams to be migrant workers. At the tender age of three, I began work in the lush California fields alongside my parents--picking ripe paperclips from the prickly bushes they grow on. Subsequently, I became a teenager and ran away from the pile of orange crates we called "home." Fame and Fortune were out there also, and I was determined to meet all three of them--perhaps to have a cup of tea.

At 22, I forded the Snake River on my horse (named Trusty), and followed the Oregon Trail into the fertile Willamette Valley. Though I lost two people in my party to dysentery and most of my supplies in a wagon fire, I knew this was home. I planted the seeds of knowledge within the rich loam found in abundance at the University of Oregon. (In the quad between PLC and the Art Museum)

Well I'm a single Dad (part time) of a wonderful 7 year old boy. I've been in Oregon now going on 30 years and I love it here. The doing things outdoors ... i.e. fishing, golfing, hunting, boating, quading .... and more ... I'm currently staring at a cat and desperately trying to telepathically communicate with the wondrous creature. This of course has been after a life time of trying to communicate other ways. So far American Sign Language and English are not something cats respond to. With the exodus of this particular cat I'm confident that my telepathic attempts have also failed.

I am poly-amorous. I have been approached by many female couples but have not dated any, only because they were not really poly amorous, or i felt that i 'd like to know more about them before i decided to make them part of my life. For example when back home a female couple wanted me to join them but one of the girls was flighty and careless of the others feelings, i took note of her ways and declined. Later they stole a girlfriend from a friend of mine who wasn't working out. The three ended up running to Florida together. Turned out they ditch the stole one in Florida and broke up before they could make it home. I saw the flighty one again at a local bar; we hung out with her and a friend that was dating someone i knew. She invited me to her place around the corner so, i went along to see her new place. we got up stares and she started complaining about the smell of my friend being on her shirt. i soon realized that they were fooling around and i was in the flighty ones interest. My only problem was she still brought drama. i sat and played acoustic guitar as my fiends lover stared at me in lust for bout a half hour, while flighty cried over the smell of her enemy and refusal to dump her. then left...I thought of many naughty things to create out of this naughty girl situation, but the situation wasn't right and neither were the characters in the situation so it parted faster than the first. I'm a fairly intelligent, open-minded, creative guy seeking the same in a woman. I enjoy most outdoor activities, am financially stable, an avid reader, and enjoy most genres of films. I can hold my end of a conversation. After owning my own business for several years, I'm now semi-retired and am taking the time to enjoy life.

4. I'm a huge geek. I have an addictive personality when it comes to super-geekdom. I love video games involving effeminate spiky haired protagonists (pretty much anything Square makes), I have a large collection of Magic cards, and I cried when Battlestar Galactica ended. Jesus, I thought I was supposed to be getting you to talk to me! What the hell is all this crap?

...The harder stuff. I am honest, it will annoy you. I have lots of animals, 19 at current count, but some of them are food NOT pets; my friends call me Noah. It will bug you, literally sometimes. I have a kid, he gets time that you will want. Deal with it, he hasn't a participative Mom. What can *I* do other than be there? I work ALOT. I have a day job and an artistic business on the side. It will get in the way. I am not monogamous. I am honest about it, and you will be exposed to others I am seeing.

So, now that you have made it through that, the easier stuff:

I am one of the most passionate and devoted people you will meet. I have references. I enjoy almost anything eclectic and different, as well as many things more "main-stream". I read, NON-fiction even. I do crossword puzzles, I am always looking for a good even challenge at Scrabble. I get lost in thought, and don't remember birthdays. It kinda bugs me when I use contractions, "ummm", hello, or "help"....and be wary if my iPod is on random. You never know what you may get.

Honestly I am an enigma. I am unlike anyone you have met, but have similarities to many you love and/or hate. My friends are family, my family are friends, my son and my self are the things I couldn't be here without.....and, yes, I actually speak this way in person too.

I used to be very happy and comfortable socializing and being in crowded night-spots. I used to be the guy at the center of neighborhood barbecues or riveting a small group at a local bar with tales from my military career. I enjoyed going out to see live music. I want to start being that guy again. He was pretty cool, according to those who knew him, anyway.

I have withdrawn from most face-to-face social interaction in the last few years (since my second combat deployment, actually) and I'd like to find someone who motivates me to go out again. I always enjoy myself immensely when I do and do all I can to make sure my companions do too, but the initial dread of leaving my place makes it hard for me to take the first step.

Hmm. Well, where do I begin? I was born and raised in Washington State, where I spent my early days as an adolescent pondering the .... Hm. I want to start over.

Okay! So! ...How to explain myself in a summary... Really, I guess I am more the type of personality where you really have to get to know me by interacting with me, as I am very fluid in my persona. Not that I'm Gollum, running around stroking a ring... More-so that I am just not a two-dimensional stereotype of a human being trying to conform to societies interpretations of masculinity whilst being constantly obsessed to "fit in with the norm".

...Not that I'm particularly abnormal, more that I'm like an onion... I have layers. Basically, if I were a video game there'd be a sticker warning on my package that might state: "Warning, game play subject to change." But, on the other hand, I am open and honest and what you see is what you get. I speak my mind and try my hardest not to care what other people think.

Not that I'm apathetic or harsh to people--what I mean is that I am unapologetic of who I am, as a person. Yeah. I watch cartoons and am an atheist. What of it? At the same time, however, I'm also fairly empathic and understanding of others. I take pride on being able to relate to people who I share little in common with.

I am a music student in Eugene. I try to spend every waking hour on improving my craft, but you know, life can get in the way. Usually, though, when I am not in school or doing homework, I am either trying to write or record a song, or sitting around reading, writing, drawing, or conversing. I enjoy gardening, and would love to get some greenhouses going again for the winter. I practice Kung-Fu. I love biking (and hiking), and have a bunch of bikes, but mostly use my single speed/fixie (flip-flop hub) or my amazing full-suspension freeride bike. Being outdoors in general usually put me in a good mood, and hiking, rock-climbing or just exploring only perpetuates that. I was raised Jewish, and had a Bar-Mitzvah and all that, but now I don't really consider myself a Jew. Well, I sorta do - culturally, but spiritually I am interested in pretty much all of the different paths, including atheism, and read a lot about religion and philosophy. I really like to draw, paint, and write, but I don't as much as I would like to. I love comics, and would really like to write a bunch with other people. Lately I've been getting more into science and math again. I've even been using -gasp- the internet to brush up on my mad calculus and chemistry skillzzz. I've always loved animals as well, and although I currently have none of my own, my roommates have a two cats that I hog. They make great pillows.

I love, music, cycling, film, travel, nerds, foreign language/language in general,hiking, mountaineering, women, modern art, crafting, building things, craft-brewed beverages, cooking (and obviously eating) and last but not least: reading! I like to have fun. Life is way to short not too. I was married for 14 years and I guess we just grew apart. My girls are the most important aspect of my life. I am looking to branch out after a year of chilling.
